What to have ready before you send
The more of this you can put in the request, the fewer rounds of questions before a real number comes back.
- Slab area in square feet. Measured length by width, plus any alcoves or bays. A two-car garage quoted at the published band lands between $2,500 and $6,000 installed, and the square footage is what shows where in that band your job sits.
- Age of the slab. New concrete needs a minimum 28-day hydration period before anything is coated, so a slab poured last month is a different conversation from one poured in 1998.
- Previous coatings. Any existing sealer, paint, epoxy or cured membrane has to be mechanically removed before a new system goes down, and that is a real cost line.
- Moisture history. Whether the slab has ever been damp, sweated in summer, shown white efflorescence at the edges, or had a coating lift or bubble before. If a moisture test has been run, say which standard and give the reading.
- What you have seen. Cracks, spalling, oil staining, tyre marks that will not come out, a soft or hollow-sounding patch.
- The space and its use. Garage, basement, shop, retail, food or wash-down area — the exposure drives the system.
- Your town, or the nearest crossroads if you are outside a town limit.
If the slab has a moisture problem, say so
This is the single most useful thing you can tell us. Installation can only proceed below 5 lbs/1000 sq ft on ASTM F1869 or below 75% RH on ASTM F2170, and a slab above those thresholds needs a dedicated moisture vapour barrier rather than a standard primer. Ground conditions here make that a live question: the Truckee series is poorly drained flood-plain and stream-terrace soil with a seasonal water table at 50–100 cm, saturated three or more months in most years, and the Reno series has a duripan at 50–100 cm with low saturated hydraulic conductivity that can hold moisture above it. Saying so up front gets the barrier into the quote instead of into change orders.

Reno adopted the 2024 IRC with the 2024 Northern Nevada Amendments, effective 1 January 2026.
